This full-service dealership specializes in Sales, Rentals, Parts, Shop & Field Service, and Specialized Transportation — all driven by a strong commitment to quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.<br /> Position Summary Are you a hands-on leader who takes pride in getting repairs right the first time? We’re looking for an experienced Shop Manager – Heavy Duty Equipment to join a Canadian leader in the material handling industry.<br /> In this role, you’ll oversee a team of 8–10 technicians in a busy service facility, using your mechanical expertise and leadership skills to ensure repairs are done efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards. You’ll play a key part in maintaining customer satisfaction, optimizing workflow, and fostering a motivated, productive workforce.<br /> The ideal candidate is a Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic who has transitioned into—or is ready for—a leadership role. You’ll combine hands-on technical knowledge with strong people management and organizational skills to keep operations running smoothly and customers happy.<br><br><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong><ul><li>Lead and supervise 8–10 technicians across mechanical and fabrication departments.</li><li>Assign work duties, manage job scheduling, and ensure quality control on all repairs.</li><li>Create and sustain a culture of safety, reliability, and accountability on the shop floor.</li><li>Plan and coordinate resource allocation—personnel, tools, parts, and materials—to maintain steady workflow and minimize downtime.</li><li>Review daily work plans with management and make adjustments to maintain productivity and quality standards.</li><li>Develop project timelines and ensure tasks are completed on schedule.</li><li>Collaborate with field service, transportation, and parts departments to streamline communication and improve shop efficiency.</li><li>Conduct daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections; ensure proper PPE and safe work practices are followed.</li><li>Maintain accurate work orders and ensure repair details are properly documented and submitted.</li><li>Support recruitment, training, and performance management of shop staff.</li><li>Uphold OHSA and company health and safety regulations and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.</li></ul><strong>Qualifications</strong><ul><li>Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, or equivalent Skilled Trade Certification / AEC / DEP (required).</li><li>Minimum of 5 years’ experience in heavy equipment service, ideally with supervisory or leadership experience.</li><li>Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems used in aggregate, waste, and recycling equipment.</li><li>Proven ability to manage workflow, prioritize tasks, and motivate a technical team.</li><li>Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.</li></ul><strong>Benefits</strong><ul><li>Competitive compensation</li><li>Extended health and dental coverage</li><li>Life insurance</li><li>Opportunities for growth within a dynamic, solutions-driven organization</li></ul><strong>Location:</strong> Crossfield, Alberta (On-site role)<br><br><strong>Interested?
