<p><b>Position: Senior Customs Analyst</b></p><ul><li><b>Location: Brampton, ON - Hybrid (3 days on-site)</b></li><li><b>Permanent position</b></li></ul><p>We at Raise are hiring a <b>Senior Customs Analyst </b>for one of our top clients. We’re hiring right now; if you’re interested, apply below for your chance to join a great place to work.</p><p><br></p><p><b>Responsibilities :</b></p><ul><li>Main point of contact for matters related to Client's international trade and customs compliance</li><li>Ensure compliance with rules of trade</li><li>Provide advice and work with Client's shipping & logistics teams on customs-related matters</li><li>Verifies tariff treatment at B-3 level to determine if proper tariff treatment is applied</li><li>Provide advice on the best customs modality to apply for shipments depending on the circumstances: temporary, permanent, testing, repair returns, and so on.</li><li>Determine accurate Harmonized System code (HS) for all company products (whether manufactured or procured)</li><li>Conduct random verifications on imported products needed for manufacturing and production purposes to ensure accurate customs declarations have been submitted by different customs brokers acting on behalf of the client.</li><li>Provide expert advice on financial aspects of customs, including payment of duties/tariffs, drawbacks, and recordkeeping.</li><li>With support from the relevant in-house experts, conduct self-classification exercises of client products against Canadian and US harmonized tariff systems and assist in ensuring that all client business areas have sufficient recordkeeping in place.</li><li>Ensure compliance with USMCA/CUSMA for incoming and outgoing shipments and identify and apply the appropriate rules of origin for that purpose.</li><li>When applicable for products meeting rules of origin under USMCA/CUSMA, produce Certificates of Origin for purposes of claiming preferential treatment.</li><li>Work with Client's internal legal team and external trade counsel when required, including on strategy and risk mitigation as well as a variety of complex trade matters, including analysis and interpretation of Canadian and international customs rulings.</li><li>Ensure adherence to the Customs Act, Customs Tariff, Export and Import Permits Act, the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA), and other relevant trade regulations.</li><li>Staying current with customs and tariff rulings, as well as regulatory matters.</li><li>Reporting risks to management on a periodic basis, highlighting any issues along with strategies for risk mitigation.</li><li>Support with daily activities as necessary, including jurisdiction and classification reviews and other import/export-related tasks as assigned by the manager of trade compliance.</li><li>Support with export and customs compliance investigations, if applicable.</li><li>Support the Trade compliance team with tasks related to export controls under Canadian and US (ITAR & EAR) regimes</li></ul><p><b>Job Requirements:</b></p><ul><li>Strong understanding of trade laws, regulations, and policy; HS classification; Incoterms; Free Trade Agreements; Customs programs; import-export modalities; valuation; recordkeeping requirements; and customs auditing.</li><li>5 or more years of experience in customs-related positions relevant to the experience requirements.</li><li>Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Licensed Customs Broker designation or other customs-related certification or designation is required.</li><li>Robust knowledge of trade agreements, with an emphasis on USMCA/CUSMA, etc., and international customs legislation and compliance.</li><li>Understanding of Canadian and US export laws, including but not limited to ITAR, EAR, the Canadian Controlled Goods Program, and the Canadian Exports and Imports Permits Act.</li><li>Working knowledge of duty drawbacks, amendments, rulings and customs audits, CARM, USA regulations, AES filing, and other export reporting/documents.</li><li>Good understanding of the world trade organization (WTO), its principles and general trading practices</li><li>Ability to work autonomously in a team-oriented environment.</li><li>Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to deal with all levels of the organization and with external parties, including government agencies.</li><li>Possess good judgment and the ability to resolve complex issues.</li><li>Must be deadline-oriented and flexible and be able to work under pressure.</li><li>Understanding of Canadian and US export laws, including but not limited to ITAR, EAR, the Canadian Controlled Goods Program, and the Canadian Exports and Imports Permits Act. (Ideal)</li><li>Effective oral and written communication skills</li></ul><p><b>Nice to have skills:</b></p><ul><li>A university or College degree in International Trade, Commerce, Logistics, customs, or a similar field would be considered an asset.</li><li>Bilingualism (French/English) is preferred</li><li>Good understanding of space technology would be a definite asset.</li></ul><p></p>Create Your Resume First
